Solicitor’s Fees for Equity Release: A Research Study
Our research study on solicitor’s fees for equity release provides a thorough analysis of the current average fee as of March 2023, offering valuable insights for homeowners and professionals.
Equity release is a popular financial option for homeowners who want to access the equity in their homes without having to sell their properties.
However, one of the challenges of equity release is understanding the fees involved.
To address this issue, we conducted a research study to explore the current average solicitor’s fee for equity release in March 2023.
The average fee for those solicitors who disclosed their fees was £1,058 including VAT.
Methodology:
To gather information on solicitor’s fees for equity release, we conducted a research study using a targeted website sampling approach.
Our sample consisted of 150 solicitor’s websites, which were selected based on their location and specialization in equity release services.
We used a standardized data collection process, which involved reviewing each website for information on solicitor’s fees for equity release.
We noted whether the fee information was disclosed or not, and recorded the fee amount if it was provided.
We then entered the data into a spreadsheet, which allowed us to organize and analyse the information.
Our analysis focused on identifying patterns and trends in solicitor’s fees for equity release, as well as any outliers or unusual data points.

Key Findings:
Out of 150 solicitor’s websites, only 11 (less than 10%) provided information about their fees for equity release.
The fees varied widely, ranging from £550 to £2,550 plus VAT.
The average fee for those solicitors who disclosed their fees was £1,058 including VAT.
Upon closer examination of the data, it becomes evident that a majority of solicitors (9 out of 11) charge a fee between £750 and £900 plus VAT for equity release, resulting in an average fee of £806 plus VAT or £967.20 including VAT.
Analysis and Discussion:
Our research suggests that solicitors’ fees for equity release can be difficult to compare, since there is such a wide range of prices.
This could be a challenge for consumers who are trying to choose a solicitor for their equity release transaction.
However, our findings also highlight the importance of transparency in solicitors’ fees.
By providing clear and upfront information about their pricing, solicitors can help consumers make more informed decisions and reduce confusion and uncertainty.
We recommend that consumers shop around and compare multiple solicitors to find the best deal for their specific needs.
While price is certainly an important factor, consumers should also consider other factors such as the solicitor’s experience and reputation, their level of communication and responsiveness, and the quality of their service.

In conclusion.
Our research study has shed light on the current average solicitor’s fee for equity release in 2023. While our sample size was relatively small, we believe our findings offer valuable insights for consumers.
It’s important to note that each equity release case is different, and the criteria and work involved can vary significantly from case to case.
As a result, many solicitors offer a free initial consultation to discuss individual needs and provide an estimate of the resulting fees.
We recommend that consumers take advantage of these consultations to discuss their specific needs and budget, and to get a better sense of what solicitor’s fees might be involved in their equity release transaction.
By doing so, they can make more informed decisions and ensure that they are getting the best value for their money.
